Healthy lifestyle | Tesco Cherries and Berries Campaign

Monday 18th August 2014 by Charlotte Maxwell

It’s your last chance this week to get into Tesco’s Cherries and Berries campaign. Even though the weather’s making us feel a bit autumnal, a fruit smoothie is a fantastic way to give ourselves a vitamin boost in a healthy and delicious way.  Read on from our new lifestyle and beauty blog contributor Rachel:

Hey everyone!  So I was lucky enough to be chosen by Tesco to test their cherries and berries range. Being on my diet this was super handy. When I went into Tesco’s I was a bit disappointed that all the strawberries had gone.  I wasn’t surprised though. I went there during the first Wimbledon week. Strawberries and cream is always a popular favourite and who could blame them?  So what did I buy instead?  Well I brought some Raspberries and Blackberries.  The Blackberries were £2 and the raspberries only £1.  I opted for blackberries due to the fact I normally always get blueberries.  I thought it would make a nice change.

Straight away I noticed how fresh they seemed.  I kept them in the fridge to use the next day while I pondered on how I would use them.  As you know the last month or so has been VERY hot.  Good for my drying my clothes but not good for trying to keep me cool ha ha.  I brought a blender a few months ago so decided to try and make a juice/smoothie.

In the blender I put a handful of raspberries and a handful of blackberries.  I also added ice, and blitzed it for about 3 minutes.  I’ve brought a new cup recently too which was perfect to pour the mixture into.  It was sharp and I think it would of benefited from a bit of sugar perhaps (I chose not to as I wanted it to be as healthy as possible).  Maybe even some milk?  I don’t know that much about smoothies etc.  It was VERY refreshing though and really refreshed me!

I was also thinking you could always make a crumble with it or pie too which would of been very tasty with cream or ice-cream. Or even making it into jam!  That’s it for this post but come back next month where I’ll be back again
