glo's desk exercises

You may not get to the Olympics this way, but you can do stretching, muscle-strengthening, and even short stints of aerobic exercises right at your desk (or maybe in an empty meeting room). After all, doctors say any amount of exercise helps and the benefits are cumulative.

So we've put together some simple exercises you can do while sitting at your desk:

Shrug off the stress

By doing 10 shoulder shrugs regularly you can release any tension building up around your shoulders and neck caused by working at a desk all day.

Simply raise your shoulders up towards your ears, hold for 20 seconds and then just let them drop. It feels sooo good.

Look both ways

Rotate your head left and right (slowly)
and feel those tight shoulders and neck loosen and the tension ooze out. combine this with the shoulder shrugs and feel the full effect.

Give it a go and let us know how you're feeling!

Stretch arm-strong

Designed to release the stress and tension in the shoulders, making you feel more flexible, less stressed and much less like Quasimodo.

This stretch should help those who play a spot of Golf on the weekend too!

The Can Can

Designed to stretch the legs and improve your posture. Point your toes up and stretch your calves out at the same time.

Ladies, this is also good for toning those thighs.

If you're sat at a desk for the majority of the day you will this a real treat. Even better you can get up and walk around every hour and give your whole body the rest it deserves.

Paper, Stone..

Your hands perform feats of acrobatics both on and off the keyboard so it’s important not to forget them during your stretches.

Stretching the fingers out and then curling them back into a ball will release tension in the hands and fingers, make you more flexible and possibly enhance your email skills!

If you text message then this is an absolute must!

The Cheshire Cat

Smile - no really! Did you know that a smile uses 17 muscles, which is 26 less muscles than a frown. This means that by simply smiling you're helping to keep yourself relaxed.

You can do this anywhere and it's contagious.

Try smiling when talking on the phone and you'll notice that your voice and expression sounds brighter and warmer.
